Knockainey vs Cappamore
1 : 18 – 3 : 11
2018-09-08 / 5 00 PM / Kilteely
Against the strong breeze in the first half Declan Deere opened the scoring for Cappamore with a point followed by another from Tommy O’Donoghue this time from a free. After some fine interplay on the right hand side a high ball was struck in and fielded by Joe Lonergan who finished with a cracking goal on the 14th minute. This left the score at 1-2 to 0-3 in favour of Cappamore. Cappamore were well on top in mid field in the 1st half with Con Berkery distributing accurately. Eamon Sheehan was also in fine form fielding any high ball falling on the half forward line. On the 23rd minute an opportunist goal was taken when Declan Deere pounced on a mistake by the knockainey goalie leaving the score 2-3 to 0-3 in favour of Cappamore. Following the goal Knockainey started to pick off some points with a change in tactics running at the Cappamore defense. Under pressure at this stage some confident interplay between the backs saw them clearing their lines with Jason Fitzgibbon in particular showing great confidence and skill with ball in hand. Tommy Donoghue started to come into the game coming up to half time and soon after splitting the posts with a well taken free he put himself in a good position to receive a pass and take a shot at goal. A fine save however but the ball was never cleared and 30 seconds later on the 29th minute Tommy struck again this time leaving the goalie with no chance hitting the top corner of the net. Score at half time had Cappamore leading 3-4 to 0-7.
The 2nd half saw Knockainey play against the breeze but they managed 3 early points within 3 minutes before Tommy O’Donoghue opened the 2nd half score for Cappamore with 2 frees in a row. Knockainey found a new gear and scored 2 further points and a penalty goal. The score was now 3-7 to 1-12 a complete turnaround from the first half. Late points from the ever present Tommy Donoghue, Dan Shanahan and a well taken point under pressure from David Lonergan were not enough as Knockainey came out winners in the end by the smallest of margins. Cappamore have to pick themselves up for their last game against South Liberties for a must win game which I’ve no doubt they will.
EAST MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Pailís na Gréine vs Cappamore
1 : 11 – 3 : 21
Referee : Brian Stapleton
2018-09-04 / 6 30 PM / Pallasgreen
The whole team played as a unit, with great support play, passing and at the same time some superb hooks and blocks. Paddy McMahon scored two great goals in the early stages. Michael Moore had 4 points from play in the first half. The work rate of Eoin McCarthy, Liam O Donnell and Sean Whelan was vital in this great win. Darragh Hanly was superb in midfield and scored 1-2 from play. Shane Kett, Jack Sheehan, Gearoid Mulcahy, Conor Fitzgibbon and Sean Lynch were rock solid in defence all night. Kevin Doyle led the forwards, ably aided by Eoin Smith, Denis O Donoghue and Ciaran Kennedy. Well done to everyone. We are looking forward to the east final against East Gaels next weekend. Thanks to Team Manager Liam O’Mahony for match report.

Murroe Boher vs Cappamore
2 : 20 – 1 : 10
Referee : Jason Mullins
2018-08-31 / 6 30 PM / Caherconlish
Cappamore had a disappointing outing against Murroe-Boher last weekend. Missing a few key players through injury and just didn’t hit the ground running on the night. More important games ahead in the championship.
U10 Hurling Blitz
Cappamore vs Seán Treacys & Caherline.
2018-08-30 / 7 00 PM / Cappamore
Cappamore hosted an U10 hurling blitz versus Caherline and Seán Treacys. This was a very competitive event with little to separate the teams. We had a great turnout and some fine performances. Each team had three matches so the young lads were well deserving of the treats they received afterwards which were provided by the club. Thanks to all the parents who provided and catered for everyone.

Oola vs Cappamore
3 : 09 – 1 : 07
Referee : Philip Dee
2018-08-28 / 7 00 PM / Oola
This game was played in Oola and we had a good panel of players on the night. We played some good football in the first half but failed to register same on the score board. While our defence held up well Oola managed to get a goal just before half time which put a gap in the scoreline. This resulted in a half time score line in favour of Oola of 1-4 to 2 points with our two scores coming from the boot of Kevin Doyle. We started the second half well but again failed to get the scores on the scoreboard. It was however a very tightly contested game; we managed to close the gap in the second half but could never close it by more than four points. The final scoreline was 3-9 to 1-7 in favour of Oola. Best for us on the night were Rhys O’ Malley, Donal O’ Mahony and James Lynch

East Minor Football Championship
Murroe Boher vs Cappamore
Referee : Michael Flannery
2018-08-24 / 7 00 PM / Boher
This game was played in Boher and due to injuries and holidays and involvement with underage county panels we were short a good number of the panel meaning that we had to start the game with only fourteen players. Despite being a man down we played some good football in the first half with scores coming from Darragh Hanley, Mikey Daly and Denis O’ Donoghue (x2). Our defence coped very well despite being under pressure at times but we went into the half time break leading by four points to two. However the game had to be called off at half time as the game could not go ahead in the second half as we did not have fifteen on the field at commencement of paly meaning that the points were awarded to Murroe Boher on the night. Best for us on the night were Rhys O’ Malley, Jack Sheehan and Denis O’ Donoghue
Team: Sean Lynch, Conor Fitzgibbon, Rhys O’ Malley, James Lynch, Jack Sheehan, Shane Kett, Darragh Hanley, Donal O’ Mahony, Mikey Daly, Eoin Smith, Denis O’ Donoghue, Eoin McCarthy, Mikey Moore
Thanks to team manager Diarmuid Sheehy for match report.
