Cappamore Year Book:

Articles for the 2024 edition of the Cappamore Yearbook are now being accepted. Articles should not be more than 1500 words with no more than 3 photos attached. Articles should preferably be typed in 12 New Roman and emailed to cappamore16 or given to Paddy McCormack Dromsally or Julie Hogan Doon road.

Cappamore GAA and Camogie club Lotto:

The Green and Gold Lotto draw was held on Monday June 17th for Jackpot of €8000 and there was no winner. O’Malley Clan Gathering 2024:

Nano O’Malley McMahon is the chieftain of the O’Malley clan for 2024. As a result of this the clan gathering takes place this year in the chieftain’s home village of Cappamore and the city of Limerick from 28th June – 30th June. Friday events are the O’Malley Olympics – a fun afternoon for O’Malley children and their friends at Tineterriffe NS from 2-4pm with refreshments for the adults! Local man Eddie O’Malley has kindly offered his Tug of War expertise for the event. 5.30-6.00pm – Welcome to the 68th annual O’Malley Gathering from Chieftain Nano O’Malley McMahon-Chieftain’s drinks reception – Grace O Malley Whiskeys has kindly sponsored the Gin and Whiskey reception. The Clan Shop will be open with O’Malley books, coffee mugs, ties, key rings, pin badges etc. 6.00pm-7.00pm. On the 100th anniversary of the US recognition of the Irish Free State in 1924, Professor Bernadette Whelan will give a talk entitled: ‘Leaving for America: Rituals of Packing and Departure’, examining the intense impact on the social, psychological and emotional lives of those who left and those who stayed behind. Bring along your family tree to display and compare with others. Also, a booklet 60 pages 25 articles “An O’Malley I’d love to have met” will be available to purchase €10. 8.00pm-9.30pm Charity Concert by the Slieve Felim Singers and friends In St John’s Church, Abington, Murroe. A musical treat in aid of Cappamore Day Centre and Milford Hospice, Limerick. Tickets on sale at the door €10. 9.30pm till late Irish Music Session in Hayes’ Bar & Sliabh Feilim Room, Cappamore, Co Limerick. Eircode V94 XKC8Back to Hayes’ function room for and some light refreshments an evening of Irish music and dancing. Watch the experts under the guidance of Pauline Hynan and then learn popular favourites, such as the Siege of Ennis and walls of Limerick! Afterwards a music session and sing song in Hayes pub. Saturday events are a visit to Ardnacrusha Hydroelectric station -Olwen O’Malley was married to the engineer Thomas McLoughlin. Afterwards a walking tour of Limerick and Treaty brewery tour and the highlight of the day will be the Banquet in Bunratty for the O’Malley Clan exclusively. Piper McKay will play the 135 O’Malley’s and friends into the banquet hall. Sunday a Mass for clan members and friends at St Munchins church 11.30am followed by history talk at the Treaty stone by Dr Liam Irwin . Clan luncheon in the Strand hotel followed by the inauguration of the new chieftain Grace O’Malley. Would love to see all the O’Malleys and friends over the weekend!

Well done to Bernard for writing a book which was launched in the Community centre on Sunday 16th of June. He was supported by his family, many neighbours, and friends. The book covers many subjects covering his up-bringing to stories and poems inspired by many experiences.
