Funding from the Dept of Rural and Community Development for Cappamore Community Centre Solar Panels and Lights
In June of 2023, the Cappamore Development Association applied for, and successfully obtained grant funding, from the Department of Rural & Community Development to support the development of community infrastructure and facilities. This grant was obtained under the scheme called Community Recognition Fund 2023 , and it comprised the installation of solar panels and the upgrading of some of the lights in the Cappamore Community Centre.
These upgrades are now complete and consisted of:
- Implementing solar panels on the community centre complex – 40 panels plus 2 invertors plus 2 batteries plus installation of same i.e. 20 solar panels plus invertor plus battery in community hall and 20 panels plus invertor plus battery in community sports hall.
- Installing LED lighting in part of community centre.
The CDA acknowledges the funding from the Department of Rural & Community Development in enabling us to do these works and also the support of Limerick City and County Council.
This type of funding is critical to a local community like Cappamore; it helps save on energy costs, helps keep the community centre operational and available to all, and helps lower our carbon footprint.
