County Junior B Hurling Championship Final

Cappamore vs Doon
1 : 08 – 0 : 09
Referee : Richard Moloney
2018-10-13 / 3 30 PM / Kilteely
A great day for the club saw Cappamore crowned county Junior B Champions against our neighbours and rivals Doon. The persistent rain made the conditions very difficult on the day. We started well in the first half with a goal from Eamon Moloney giving us a commanding 1-6 to 0-3 half time lead. Doon came roaring back into the game in the 2nd half but we showed great character and resilience to hold on. This team is a nice mix of youth and experience with seven U21s starting. Hopefully these lads will stay improving and play first team hurling in the years ahead. Congrats to Liam creamer who was named man of the match who had an exceptional display of free taking. Scorers Liam creamer 0-5, Eamon Moloney 1-1, Kevin Doyle 0-1, J Walsh 0-1,

Na Piarsaigh vs Cappamore
3 : 11 – 1 : 18
Referee : Michael Flannery
2018-10-14 / 12 00 PM / Caherdavin

Another close heart stopping match this week in Caherdavin where Cappamore took on Na Piarsaigh in the Shield quarter final replay. Cappamore started well going 0-5 to 0-2 up then Na Piarsaigh struck for goal which started a repeat of the previous week where the lead would change several times with both sides exchanging points. But our boys dug deep in the last 10 minutes to go a well deserved 4 points ahead. A late free gave Na Piarsaigb a chance goal but soon after time was up giving us the win by the smallest of margins.

Cappamore under 16s were out sunday against Na Piarsaigh in the hurling shield knockout. Cappamore started well with some fine points from play and from Liam O’Donnell with the placed ball . However it was not going to be easy when Na Piarsaigh hit back with a goal and 2 points to draw level . From then on it was very close and normal time finished with L O’Donnell pointing to draw level. The game went to extra time with normal service resumed and each team scoring one for one. Again extra time finished with a fine point from a free for Na Piarsaigh to draw level.
Date of replay to be announced.

A fine second half performance from the whole team put Cappamore through to a well deserved county final.

What was a lovely evening for hurling in Knocklong, Cappamore started the game brightly with the excellent Liam Creamer firing over a free and a 65 and the ever young Kieran Hickey pointing from play. Cappamore goal was well taken by Eamon Maloney and soon after Kieran Hickey fired over another point from play. Cappamore boys had there tails up and playing with a lot of confidence.
