Intermediate Camogie

Cappamore 1-10

Ballyagran 0-1

Cappamore Intermediate Camogie team stormed their way into a county final with a commanding performance against Ballyagran on Sunday 31st Oct. Cappamore’s opening score came from Laura Fennelly when she buried the ball in the back of the net in the opening minute. It was quickly followed by a point from our captain Marie Berkery. Anna Ryan was as steady as ever from placed balls and put over her first point from a 45. Shortly after Lisa Leonard made a great run from the middle of the field to put over a lovely point from the right wing. Our next score came from Anna Ryan from a free. Unfortunately our tally of injuries grew when Elaine Berkery went down and had to be replaced by Orla Lonergan. Our final score before half time came from a long range free taken by our keeper Claire Keating. We went into the half time break 1-5 up.

We started the second half against the wind and had the rain blowing in our faces it didn’t deter our girls from getting on with the job at hand. While our backs began to see a bit more of the ball, nothing seemed to phase them and they cleared everything that came their way. Anna Ryan again put over the next 2 scores from frees. Our next 2 points came from Marie Berkery and Lisa Leonard. The final score came from Laura Fennelly to cap off a great performance by the team in terrible weather conditions. We would like to thank all who braved the weather and came out to support the team. They will now prepare for their final against Monaleen on Sunday 21st November. So don’t put away your green and gold flags. Keep them flying to support our girls.
