U21 Hurling East Championship 3rd round

Sunday 11th

Pallas 3-11 Cappamore 2-12 Venue: Knockane GAA Grounds

This was a good game of hurling taking the conditions under foot were very poor. The game started with both sides taking a point a-piece. In the next 10 minutes Pallas scored 5 points with Cappamore only scoring one. Cappamore were down 7 points to 2 points at the end of the first quarter. The boys started to make headway coming back into the game strongly. Scores coming from Joe Lonergan, Donal O’ Mahoney, Jamie McCarthy and Jack Leonard. At 7 points a-piece it looked tight going into half time, but Pallas struck with 2 quick goals in succession. Half time score was 2 – 7 to 0 – 07 in favour of Pallas.

Second half started with Pallas scoring 2 quick points. The Cappamore boys got back to the task and worked their way back into the game. Joe Lonergan scoring 2 goals from the 21 yard line. Points from Matthew Ryan, Liam Creamer, Joe Lonergan, Ben Leonard and Jason Fitzgibbon, while a tight defense kept Pallas at bay. The score was back to 2 points with 5 minutes to go. Unfortunately we conceded a third goal bringing the margin back to 4 points. Cappamore scored 2 points in the closing minutes to lose by 2 points. Well done to all for a huge effort on the day.
