Cappamore Notes 27 – 05 – 2019

RECENT DEATHS: The death took place on Friday 10th May of Willie Lynch, Dromclogher, Cappamore and formerly of Lisselton, co. Kerry. He is survived by wife Kathleen, son Liam, niece Kathleen, nephew Thomas, sister in law Nora May, relatives and friends. Following Requiem in St Michael’s church, Cappamore, burial took place in Abington cemetery.
Kathleen O Malley (nee Merrick).St. Mary’s Terrace, Cappamore and formerly Dromalty passed away on Monday 13th May in University Hospital, Limerick in her 91st year.She is survived by daughter Bridie, sons Larry, Michael and Brian, sister Breda, grandchildren, great grandchildren, son in law, daughters in law, relatives, neighbours and friends. Burial took place in Towerhill following Requiem Mass in St. Michael’s Church, Cappamore.
PARISH MASS OF THANKSGIVING AND FAREWELL: The Mass of Thanksgiving and Farewell, to mark the departure of the Mercy Sisters after 123 years of service in our parish, will take place on Sunday, 9th June at 11 o’clock. Refreshments will be served in the Community Centre after Mass. This day will be our parish tribute to the Mercy Sisters for all they have given to Cappamore over many generations. Please pass on the word to relatives who are away especially to past pupils of the Sisters.

CAPPAMORE YOUTH CHOIR: Cappamore Youth Choir will be taking part in the Mass of Thanksgiving and Farewell for the Mercy Sisters. After this it will be taking a break for the Summer. Thanks to Kitty Sheehan and Michael O’Brien, musical directors and to all the young singers and musicians for sharing their talents with the parish over the last nine months. We look forward to hearing their dulcet tones again when the Choir resumes in September.

DANCING NEWS: A massive thank you to all dancers both junior and senior who took part in the dance challenge. And also the all Ireland teams of set dancers from 1988 to 2008,who reunited for the fund raising event . A big thank you to all who sponsored the event or helped out in any way.A brilliant night was enjoyed by all. €8,010.44 was raised and divided between cancer research, and Cappamore day care centre. GIY: On Wednesday 12th. June, James Vaughan, who writes the weekly gardening feature “Green Fingers” on the Limerick Leader, will be with us to talk on vegetables, fruit, flowers and maybe something on sustainability. All comers are welcome on the night, so pass on the message to surrounding parishes. It will take place in Cappamore Community Centre at 8.00p.m.
